I need help with my sound

I got a used computer from a friend. I had to format, then I lost my sound and can't get it to work. I tried using the instalation CD I had to format with but it don't work. I tried adding new hardware under control panel. Still nothing. HHHEEELLLPPP!!!!!

 

I need some info, first.
What is the make and model of your PC? What OS are you using?

 

Try running something like Everest or PCWizard or Unknown Devices to figure out what sound chip you have. Then post the info, and the info requested above by musksnipe, and we'll try to help you out.
