i need help with scanner

i bought a scanner at a garage sale and it didn't have a disc so i was wondering if i could install it without a disc and if i could install it on windows xp if it is meant to be used with windows 95 if anyone could help i would be very thankful!

 

i would suggest doing a google search, or go to the manufactures website, and see if they have drivers for your scanner.

 

What model scanner is it?

Have you tried using it with XP to see if it's detected when it's switched on?

 

it doesn't detect the scanner when it's on and the scanner is a scanport 3000 i downloaded the driver and installed it but when i tried to preview the photo my computer tells me there is and error and that it needs to close

You say it's meant to be used in Windows 95?

If that's the case, try Compatibility Mode.

Uninstall the driver completely, then right-click the setup file's executable, then select Properties, then Compatibility Tab.

Select Windows 95 from the drop-down box, apply, O.K. then install as normal.

After you install the software, find the programs executable and do the same thing then start the program.


If all that fails, the only other option is to try Application Compatibility Toolkit, although it's fairly advanced and up to you if you think it's worth the effort.

It's on your XP CD (Version 2), but there is a later version available for download from the Micro$$oft site. (Version 3)

 

BTW, I had a quick look and it appears there is an XP driver for your model available HERE, so try that first.

You seeem to be asking alot of questions in one sentence. It looks like you might need a driver. That is what would be on the disc you do not have. You should be able to get to the make and model of the device on a web sight and download the driver you need to be able to talk to your system and work with it. Does this sound like what you are trying to do?
