I don`t know why everything is going so bad this days for me?! :(
The electrical power went off and when I wanted to open the computer it enters in an unendless loop. It shows the first startup screen, then tries to open Windows xp and then again the startup screen. It doesn`t open the Windows.
I tried to repair using Windows xp sp1, but in the "installing network" phase it stops and nothing happens for minutes... I don`t know what to do :( I tried then with another Windows xp (but this time SP2) but the computer doesn`t boot from cd, it just continues the setup and ends in an fatal error (of course).
I then tried to boot from the first cd (windows xp sp1) and then upgrading from windows xp sp2 (preparing for setup after inserting windows xp sp2) , but the computer doesn`t respond.

Oh dear Oh dear Oh dear.

A repair install from both SP1 and SP2 and a power cut. No wonder poor old windows doesn't know where it is.

If you can still boot the pc from one of the windows disks first try to run the system file checker form the recovery console (not repair installation but the first r you come to when the pc boots).

If this does not work then you will need to install a second copy of windows into a folder with another name say Awindows. You can then boot to this copy and transfer your data. You will have to reinstall programs etc and possibly reactivate. Then you can delete the original copy of windows.

yes I did it before setup, I entered console and typed "chkdsk" command and a lot of errors came out. I also ran "fixboot" command and than I ran windows xp setup.

Check disk won't help. This is for physically corrupt sectors on the hard drive. Actually there may be some due to the power cut but you still need the SFC.

    you must enter chkdsk /r
    to repair errors.

chkdsk on its own merely reports errors it doesn't fix them

You need the system file checker.

sfc /scannow (note the double n)

This compare the windows files on the hard drive with those on the cd and replaces any which are wrong.

Just a question in this topic :
Someone has taken my pc to repair it and he said that I had deleted everything :/ but he could find a way to recover my files. Than when he turned back the pc all the programs and the documents were as they were before I gave him the pc. Is this possible???? If I had formated the pc mistakely as he said is it possible to recover the documents and the programs????

Considering your earlier hybridisation programme anything is possible.

I should just be glad your earlier docs etc are back.
