I need to get rid of DX 10

I have Direct X 10 for XP home & since I have noticed increasing amounts of crahsing during gameplay, random crashes at that although GTA IV for example would probably crash anyway due to the amount of bugs it has :-D

I found the system restore point where it was added Feb 3rd, so problem solved sort of. One of my two solutions has a possible failing, I know system restore will restore my PC's settings to that of the said restrore point, but will that also wipe all the games installed & drivers installed since?

If so is there any way I can get rid of DX 10 from XP? I have heard of programs that can delete Direct X from your PC, but will my PC still run without any form of DX until I can get DX9 back?

I don't wanna loose anything since that point except DX10 basically because Feb 3rd was the date I formatted my pc and started again :confused so that is really the first restore point.

Are you positive that DX10 is causing the problem?
From the GTA forums it appears more like bad programming problems and very poor QA.
Everyone's just waiting for patch after patch...

 

I just sorted out my last problem, mipmap detail was set to standard which it seems was making all the reflections in GTA IV pich black. Thats sorted now though. The thing is it must be DX10 because Burnout Paradice also just crashes randomly.

Oh and with GTA IV, there are two types of crash:

*The game exits to desktop, simply dissapearing from the task manager :confused

*Error report crash, basically more of a freeze.

DX10 for XP is useless anyway, DXDiag says I have DX10, but games don't recognise it and run as if I had DX9c. It just has to go :-D
