I need to keep count

I just bought a monthly contract for mobile internet access, with a dongle. There is of course a limit on the amount of data I'm allowed to download without getting heavily penalised and sites like facebook can quickly get things out of hand, so I need a free data counter to keep an eye on my usage but I don't know any.

I tried to put "data counter" into google but this brought all sorts of counters: all the ones I found mentioned in some forum, well, the websites did not exist any more. So please, can anyone point me to a right direction to download a free data counter. I'm not technically minded so something simple to use would be better. Of course it would be nice to know how much data facebook or a trip to U-tube cost me, but the main thing is an easy display of the total, e.g. 5.6 GB

It would be even nicer, of course, if I could tap in my monthly usage, including the monthly date it starts counting from and the software could give me the usage in percentage as well. But that's a luxury I can do without for the moment.

My note: Small download, excellently rated by MG members. I'm using a slightly older version, for ages now. Must update.

If you decide to try it, right click on the icon by the time (bootom right of screen) and then select Statistics Grid for the most useful stats, IMO.
