My daughter has been corresponding with some strange people on the internet, I just discovered. I still want her to have privledges to the internet, but I want to be able to disable AOL and all the other instant message types of programs. I am going to monitor her more closely but is there a way in Windows XP home that I can prevent this application from running? Specifically AOL IM, that is her favorite

    Thanks

Actually. I would initiate profile logging.

You do this by creating a account for her (And a password so she feels special).

You can then specify (Although admittingly i have not done this) the privelegs she may have or programs she may run.

    Worth looking into.

Okay, let me be a little more specific. She is an internet savvy teenager. I have uninstalled it in the past and she just reinstalls it. I think I figured it out though, I have just edited the registry and denied access to all files associated with AIM

Ok, or you can go with Robot|Bender's suggestion. Create an account for her and remove any/all privelages for installing/removing software. That way she still has access to the net, but can't download the programs used to chat with once you have them removed.
