I need to speed up my game load times.

Ok I have two computers the one in my sig and another one. The specs are 1.2 Ghz celeron 256MB pc133Mhz RAM 40 gig harddrive @ 5600 RPM and a ATI 9200 PCI.

When both computers are playing the same game and a new map loads. It always takes a full minute or more for the other PC to join the game. Sometimes there has been already a Flag or two captured.

So my question is what single upgrade can I do to better this situation the most. I was thinking this was a harddrive RPM issue. And was thinking of getting a new 7200 RPM harddrive. I wanted to run it by yall first.

Buying another PC is not an option so dont say it.

 

Ya I hear that sometimes about the Klan thing. The K is just an alternate way of spelling clan.

Ya i just have a PCI slots. Well the 9200 I have has 128MB ram. I just trying to play UT2k4 with nothing Half-life 2 or Doom 3.

So the one Upgrade You suggest is more ram. Hard drive second. cool

You know how you can get mods for games right?
Even if you wanted to multiplayer, usually someone makes a no.cd or whatever or modifies your lets say halo.exe = your games exacutable . whatever you wanna spell it. I only have Ati 9550 256mb which is not even midrange anymore but anyway i always get a lighter .exe providing someone has made one which would also be known as patch but rather unoficial. Ram does make difference as for harddrive err faster is better but you can just cool it a bit better if you dont want to purchase a new system

 

are you talking about online load times? for faster offline load times..get a good quality hard drive..the rpm isnt the most important factor on a hard drive..i just got a $70 maxtor hd and wow so much faster loading times then my failing samsung..lol...for games the entire computer needs to be in harmony=)..good parts that work good with each other..find someone with a fast reliable system and see what they gor going on..then let me know what that is=)...good luck

 

Ohh your.exe ok i get it UT2k4.exe. I already have a no-cd patch though it is offical. Also about lowering the res. That would just boost FPS right. Im not looking graphic gains. Im just wanting faster load time. Right now the pc is playing 800 X 600 res. @ an average 40 FPS. I am content with that.
