I need to vent

ok so i just needed somewhere to vent my anger. About 3 months ago i started building a new computer (i dont exactly have a lot of money so i had to spac eout buying things over a few months) so long story short i just got the last 2 peices i needed yesterday (ati 4830 video card and intell 2.2 duo core) and slaped it all together and went to turn it on, then.....silence....the fraggin mobo is dead and asus refuses to replace it on the basis that "it was your psu that dammaged it and we dont cover accedental dammage" so now im out about 150 bucks (asus pq5 mobo) and STIll dont have a computer at my house for over 5 months (i think im starting to have withdraws :banghead

 

Vent all you need to Arvald!! We've all been there at one time or another. However, how does Asus know it was your PSU that fried the board? It may have well been a bad board out of the box. Just out of curiosity, what brand of PSU were you using?

 

I'd be interested to know what region you live in?Over here it would have nothing to do with ASUS after such a short period of time,I'd take it straight back to the vendor and exchange it for a new one.

well thats the thing ive had the mobo for 2 months and just put everything together so the vendor said i needed to go to asus and asus said that they would not replace it, ima bitch my *** off at them today after work so ill keep you updated

 

Just a suggestion...if you call them with attitude (which is what I get from your post), they'll be MUCH less inclined to help you. Instead, no matter how mad you are, speak politely and explain exactly what happened with it and you might be surprised.

 

Good luck Arvald! When you do take it back to the vendor, try to be a little more subtle than the way you explained it!!:-D It wouldn't hurt the vendor any to give you a new board, because they can just send the defective one back to their distributor for a new board, or credit.

Well the place I shop has a 12 month return to base policy,which vendor is it?And do you live in the UK or Stateside?

 

tiger direct and state side, also i called em and immediately asked for a supervisor, the old mobo is now being shipped back to them and they are sending me a new one :-D

 

Good so they replaced it for you in the end? no charge? Lot of time it all hinges who you get to speak with.

oh i hope so, because ive got a copy of fallout 3 thats been sitting in my desk for a month and someone make a nuclear sniper rifle mod ive been itching to try

 

I do a lot of shopping with Tiger, good folks. They actually gave me an RMA# because a video card was not producing as many Foliding PPD as I thought (from other sites) it should.

Yep, if your P.C. hardware vendor doesn't have at least a blanket 12 month warranty on all parts, (except blank discs and software, obviously), then you'd be well advised to change vendors.

But I see you got ya mainboard replaced, so all is cool again. Good luck with the new P.C. :cool
