i/o error dvd rom

I have a dell P4 running xp pro, service pack 2. DVD Rom is Pioneer dvd 113. It reads cd and vcd just fine, but get the i/o error when try to play dvd. I have installed KM player and vistacodec v634. Any idea what's going on?

Windows explorer will show the dvd and the contents, but not play.

 

I think it would be more helpful if you could give more detailed info. about the error and Error Message that you are getting.

Also, FYI, Windows XP SP2 is no longer suppoted.

I popped in a DVD disc and this is what is shown when I try to open it. Again, it plays CD and VCD without problem.

d:\ is not accessible. This request could not be performed because of an i/o device error
