Basically as stated I bought my computer brand new no warranties but the factory and all the programs I needed to function for $425. Well it has been a year and a half and it has just about died on me. It shuts down completely at random every 3-4 hours and I do use the computer about 7-8 hours a day and have been for the entire time I have had it. I believe since all virus scans, adware/maleware scans have come back clean that it is most likely a hardware issue. Now here is my predicament.........

The cheapest pc guy in my town charges $75 to look at, only the $75 if it's non-fixable or $75 towards the final price of fixing it. My question to all is, should I even bother? I do believe a year and a half for a $425 laptop is plenty long life, cause $1000 for 3-4 years is about what it is these days I believe.

The computer I bought is a Dell Vostro 1000. So, would you just buy another laptop for cheap again, or have it looked at by the pc guy ad hope you don't have $75 out for nothing, or even up to a couple hundred to fix?

Did you buy new or used?
May just be a battery needing replacement.

    Hi

Maybe not on paying someone as random shutdowns are likely to possibly be either:

    1. Heat issue and make sure the inside of the PC is clean and free from dust, especially the CPU heatsink fan. Also if possible tell us your PC temps , Everest Free offers this option click Computer > Sensor and tell us what they are after the PC being on fo rat leats a few hours.

    2. Boot into Safe Mode and does same happen as incompatible drivers or software can cause this so update to latest makers drivers and update all software to latest versions.

Brand new Sir. And if it is the battery, how come it does it when it is plugged into the wall?

It was very hot earlier today when it shut down, my current temp is Sensor Properties: Sensor Type HDD Temperatures: CPU 35 °C (95 °F) FUJITSU MHY2120BH 35 °C (95

I should note though, it just shut down a half hour ago and my computer cause I had a fan blowing on it with AC on in house was fairly cool. And as far as the battery is concerned, my laptop reads my battery as being at %0 with a X through the battery. Now as a test I just detached the battery from my laptop to see what happens, and so far the laptop had been running without shutting down yet.

I don't believe that those temps would be a problem. Seem to be a bit on the cool side.

    Hi

If new and a laptop if the test with battery removed works ok then seek the maker to replace the battery as it maybe faulty, BTW what is laptop make and model?
