I really need some help trying to clean my system but I don't know what is really

    important to keep on my system. Please can you help me out I have so much things on here taking my memory, and I have a hard time surfing the internet.

    Programs that you no longer use (but still have the installation disc) can be removed through the control panel / add-remove progams.
    To clean up temps that might be clogging run this:

    HI actually I don't have the instal disc, what can I do? I don't know what programs are important to my system but most of everything else I don't care for?Can you help me or do I go to another source for help on this?

    You need to tell us what it is you are wanting to remove ....did you run the CCleaner?

    Hi!
    Check in Add/Remove Programs. Do you see programs you no longer use that you can uninstall? You don't need to have the discs unless you would want to reinstall them later and you paid for them.
    Do you have a lot of Video, Music and Picture files you could delete?
    If you are running XP and you don't use 'Microsoft Works' you could uninstall it through Add/Remove Programs...no harm done.( 287.00 MB!)
    Run Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter after uninstalling programs and deleting a lot of unwanted files.
    CCleaner will help a lot.

    I have a lot of programs like anti virus to remove and such can't I do a scan where you can see what I have on here? I am sure you would know what is vital for my computer I just want to totally clean my computer so it is like new again, if you know what I mean?

    Click on start / programs then hit print screen ....open paint and hit paste ...use stretch skew to size down ....maybe 70% then save as ...to my pictures ....then when you post scroll down to manage attachements ...browse and when found upload.

    You need 1 antivirus program...get rid of any others installed.
    You need 1 Firewall you installed...get rid of any extras you may have installed to try out.
    Get rid of all programs you installed, but seldom use.
    Get rid of movies, photos and music you no longer need or burn them to a CD.
    What you want to keep is your decision.

    If you want it "like new again" ....do a clean install ...then put whatever you want on it. That's the only way to be "like new".

    I am running windows 98SE, I don't have any discs, and I am very new to the computer world, what you are saying to me is very foreign and I am having a difficult time understanding:( sorry for being so ignorant to the computer world.

    OK....now we know we're not dealing with windows 2000 or xp ..
    write down all the programs listed in the start / programs menu to notepad..then choose save as and name the file and save it in my documents ....then when you repost scroll down below the posting box and find manage attachments and click on that then click the browse button and go to my document folder and click on the file you saved and then hit upload then submit reply.
