I am getting very angry with my computer, all i want to do is format drive C: and reinstall windows xp..

I first tried to do a new install of windows xp with the disc and all that did was complicate things....now whenever i startup windows, i have to choose which one i want to use...the top choice leads me to the new version i installed and the bottom choice of "Windows XP Professional" goes to the one i am using now....

So can someone help me.... Maybe give me a link to get a boot disk with the format ability...or can someone tell me what i can do to get rid of the options to choose which one i want to use when i restart my comp.......

This site has all manner of boot disks: http://www.bootdisk.com/
The WinME one has the latest FDISK

To set which OS choice is default and whether or not (or how long) to display the choice:
Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery settings > choose from the drop down list under 'Default operating system' and uncheck 'Time to display list of operating systems' -or- reduce the time to something smaller.

For future reference here's how to reinstall (or repair install) XP:

Well sounds like you have dual boot set up.

Assume you want to install fresh install of XP on one big partition.
If that the case, I believe you still can use xp cd.
    Another option =
If you have xp loaded on two different partitions, and you only want one version, boot to windows xp the version or install that you want to keep.
Then go to control pannel, click on administrative tools, then click on computer managment, then onleft side of window that is now open under storage is disk managment click on that, then list of all your partitions will appear, you then can right click on the one that contains the version of xp that you dont want, can delete, or reformat it wilth file system your using, and use partition for storage.

    O.k. or use the cd
Run set up again, will soon come to list of already installed partitions, if you only want one large partition, ( sounds like you now have two partitions)
will be something like c:xp and d:xp
follow instructions press enter to install on d, setup will continue youll be ask to delete or format d , do so when that is done below click on back button then do same to c, then wen you continue you will only have one partition, install your xp ( just did delete of two partitions with cd today, my description of instructions may be missing alittle info, sorry bad memory)
