I recieved an email from Gen Augusto Pinochet of Chile!

The following email that appeared in my inbox the other day amused me no end:

I am Captain Molina Augusto Pinochet the Grandson of the Late Gen
Augusto Pinochet of Chile the former President of chile who died on Sun Dec
10,2006.I am now being dismmised from the Chilean Army due to the fact
that I gave a speech at his funeral,and they want to collect our family
fortune from me.I need your help to take care of this money.

i select all delete... ha, the millions and trillions i lost

 

I get a few of these. What really is funny to me is there must be some people that fall for them!

Yes, there are, but I don't think it is funny. In fact, I recently learned of an elderly neighbor, who was conned, not from these, but by a phone call. He was very trusting, as our older generation is, and lost a good sum of money.

That is sad, not funny. Messing with the older folks is not good. But if you are under 40 and fall for it, I will laugh at you.

I had one, supposedly from the Nephew of General Idi Amin Dada, along similar lines a few years back. Guess I missed my big chance to get rich from Uncle Idi, lol! rolleyes

60 Minutes program, last night, here in Queensland, featured a 20 minute segment on a 60 minutes organised sting, and arrests, :major in Nigeria. :cool

Eye opening, to anyone not familiar with the "419" scams.

One victim had lost 2 businesses, a home and lots of cash trying to get a slice of the promised USD$ :cry

Serves them right for being greedy. I have no pity for a business man getting ripped off though I do pity the elderly who are not aware of these scams. Sad really. If it's too good to be true...
