I am just to the point now where Microsoft just finally pushed me to Linux.

I am just sick and tired of all the updates that don't help in any way shape or form.If any thing they break more things then they fix.Just like a MMO breaks more stuff to keeps there jobs.

Linux needs a boost in people.

Try Chris Titus Tech at Youtube. He quit his IT job for a year to explore and learn Linux. In the vids, he goes through the distros one by one searching for the one he would use for keeps. For 10 days to a month all the changes to the OS he needed to make to get it where he likes things are chronicled. Googling "Titus Tech <distro>" will bring up his vids for each distro...

I recently tried a new to me distro and was surprised. Trisquel. I put it on a thumb drive and wad impressed on 1st boot. It has a desktop with word processing, internet, music and video ready to go.

It saw all my hdd's, my ssd, my externals and usb's. Played music and videos from my offline windows hdd just by clicking on the icon., No work to do at all!
    Worth a download to try.

    .....more of a Windows feel.

I think those words make up a generic statement used by 300 different linux distros nowadays!

FYI if you are planning on running a dual boot with windows and Linux it's a pain in the ass.I kept getting a G hub error,It took me over 4 hours just to remove the g hub error. It was very frustrating,I had to completely wipe all my drives 4 or 5 times. On the plus side at least there are no virus or malware on my system lol.But i lost most of my data due to this F$$ck up.Not sure if my system can deal with Linux.

And another issue with this is,Most of the stuff i had to read over did not help.Barely for the issue i had.Currently in windows 7.

I have plenty usb's for live systems and if it comes to linux on a hard drive or ssd I will use a dedicated device with partitions set up for the linux system. I'm not going to chance a linux operation to cause a loss past what I have a clone or back-up/ image of.

Some of the popular Linux distros have options in their Install routine to put Linux and Windows on the same drive.
I never did that, and I recommend that you avoid doing that.
You should install on a separate storage device. A 120GB SATA SSD would work quite well and they are much cheaper now.

I have Mint Cinnamon and MX installed on two solid state drives, with Mint controlling the GRUB boot process on both drives.

Linux Mint is very stable and easier for Linux beginners.
