I think I blew up my BIOS

That was dumb, and I knew it as soon as I execuited flash from windows. Now when I power on I get fans and the CD drive tries to read. How do I fix this mess?

Post the make and manufacturer of the computer, if not the motherboard, please.

 

Show built PC. Motherboard ASUS Socket "A"(462) A7V266-E

 

Pull CMOS battery out for like five minutes then but it back in and see if that fixes it.

Does this computer have a RAID controller?

I don't think pulling the CMOS battery will help with a corrupted BIOS, but I suppose it is worth a shot.

 

Yes it has a RAID but I am not using it.

 

No removing the battery did not help. What next?

 

Looking pretty bleak. I'm reading the Asus forum, and I'm not finding anyone with a solution.

If you are comfortable replacing the BIOS chip (may involve soldering), you might be able to get a replacement by contacting Asus, if not, you may be able to use that contact link to request an RMA (it's an older machine, but they may help you if you used their tools to flash the BIOS)

 

Try this

Put the Aflash floppy into the drive and boot the computer, holding down the del key.

you may hear some beeps and see some floppy drive activity but see nothing on the screen.

When the activity has stopped, remove the floppy and try to boot normally

 

Maybe you should get a new mobo.
