I must start by saying, please don't judge my ignorance!

There's alot I could go into but the basic fact is I am completely confused. My game crash log (On Sims 3) is insisting the game is crashing because I need more RAM then 4GB ..... But this only started when I updated my Drivers..
The problem is, there was a huge problem with updating my drivers so rolling back seems impossible as its gone through many phases in the past few days.

I am pretty sure there must be alot of left over stuff from the previous drivers that could be possibly causing problems ( There was a BIOS issue and it shut itself down - so god knows what's left behind). I have no idea if my computer is running well any-more. I am at the end of my tether.

I know a fair amount on laptops but I feel completely knackered over this - I have been looking at my Device Manager table for longer than I ever wanted.

If someone could give me a pointer of where to even start - what report to send- and what looks wrong. I will be really grateful.

I have downloaded Everest - Just not sure which/how many of the reports you may need to see. I am frazzled.

It could be a RAM issue due to having all EP's and CC enabled and it getting too much...(if it is would updating to 8GB help?)
It could be I frazzled the drivers

    Please help... :eek

    Em

P.s have attached general report to get things started

Hello frazzled Emily from Worthing UK.. nice part of UK by the way on the Sussex coast.

Well we do not judge those that FUBAR their PCs... we may mock a little.... nah I jest! as we have all done it at some point.

    But to your issue...

What did you use to update drivers, was this via some software application or manually?

Could you tell us the make and model of your laptop? as the Everest log is not complete and Everest the old free version doesn't work great in Windows 7, the one that could is below with instruction, but the make and model of your PC and any Service Tag (could be underneath the laptop can help us fin the right drivers to get you back running ok.

I doubt upgrading to 8GB ram will help and that is if your laptop or Windows version (32bit Windows will only see sub 4GB ram) could take that amount, the game SIMS should not need more than 4GB anyways.

What are the error crash message codes that SIMS is giving you, please add in a notepad file and attach if you have those logs.

West Sussex is lovely when its not cold and your technological equipment runs to spec :(:(

Thank you for answering :)- I still really am at the end of tether - I actually couldn't go to sleep last night until I tried everything on my brain!

The problems have somewhat changed in that I can eliminate anything to do with The Sims out of the equation - I did a full un-install and reinstall - No mods, content or anything. Still crashes. I would like to add dreamily - There was a time when this machine run it well. almost perfectly some would say. I am not one to overclock so this was achieved naturally (or by total luck).

In my previous post before things escelated the Sims logs would come back banging on about memory and ACCESS VIOLATION.(I tried all DEP exceptions LAA stuff etc) However - thats not even possible now as it doesn't even load the town (properly). Just keeeps on loading..no freezing...no nothing

In fact the graphics itself for the game are now such mess an it doesn't even load properly. - Missing trees - lag - awful awful awful - it looks like a different program (and that's if for some glitchy moment it shows you the world your trying to load...random?)

This all started when I updated my driver from AMD *Slaps hand* Should of kept with the Vendor. Nothing has worked the same since its like suddenly all good graphics capability has flown out the window.

After countless restarting the pc - downloading updated BIOs from HP -Wiping previous AMD software and finally arriving at ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c=en&cc=uk&dlc=&sw_lang=&product=5069731#N241 ).... my bleeding spec!!

    IT IS STILL RUBBISH!!!!

Ahh the very idea of being able to Roll back to a previous time is laughable - sooo many changed things I have lost hours and too much brain space over this problem.

The fact is it used to run great so I know it can't be that my general laptop is crap and rubbish at runnning it....

The ONLY thing my tiny pretend geek brain can contemplate it being is that the 2 graphics devices used to work together. And now they don't.

    My laptop model is ...
    HP Pavilion dv6-3142ea Entertainment Notebook
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

The two display adaptors I have listed are
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (HP)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (HP)

I have attached the log..ohhh please be able to recognise something bad :(

Thank you sooo much for taking the time out to read

    Hi Emily

Sorry for the late reply (work work and work is a pita at present).

Ok that's good to know that SIMS is not likely the cause but it may stem from the driver update, so to see if we can fix this try the below.

First download and install DriverFusion (formally DriverSweeper) But don't agree to installing SpotFlux during the install as you do not need it.

Download the graphics driver HERE but don't install yet, then follow the below.

Use Add/Remove and uninstall your ATi Graphics Driver, then reboot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and then run DriverFusion to remove any ATi Graphics files

Then install the HP graphics driver you downloaded earlier and reboot and see if that helps.
