capture a news video clip online. When all done, all I got was a black screen with a timer from the news site ticking away. So the only thing it captured was the outside frame of the video clip. IDEAS?

    Thanks

Thanks. What I am trying to "snag" is a news clip on Channel 9 Denver. Do you think Firefox can help with that one? I am downloding the youtube one right now but not sure if it will work on news clips. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

If you use FireFox this is an extension I found a few days ago. It downloaded some tough to get videos with no problems. I haven't used it much as I don't download a lot of video but it seems to work well.

    Just tried the YouTube downloader.
I couldn't cut and paste a YouTube link into the appropraite box.
    Ridiculous "bug" IMO. :cry :(
Guess you have to be in YouTube first. Will try again later. Bazza

Snagit only grabs the video, right? I am looking for something to grab both the audio and video. I recorded the sound using a microphone and then grabbed the video using SNAGIT. But when I tried to run them together, The video soon fell behind the sound. So, I guess I need more help. That Firefox download extesnion you noted below: Where is the original download section/site? I need to get this doe soon. Thanks.

I downloaded the Firefox and the download add-on. But when I click on it, XP says it needs to find how to open it. It shows nothing on the microsoft site but when you ask it to browse, it comes up with Firefox. That's cool but I need to know how to get this to work. Sorry for the lack of brains on my end. HELP!!

You need to open the .XPI file add-on with Firefox. Do you have firefox installed yet?

Yes. I just downloaded Firefox and have it as my browser. It opens as home page too. Does it have a favorites like IE?

Yes, except they are called 'Bookmarks' there's a menu at the top.

Now, when we go to the add-on, we want to right-click, and select open with.

If prompted, we want to choose a program from a list.

When the list appears, if firefox is not on it, press the 'Browse' button, and navigate to c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, and open.

Firefox will show an installation prompt. When the countdown is complete, press the 'install' button.

Okay, I loaded Firefox and the download stuff. I followed the instructions and I did get to save the clip on my desktop. But when I went to open it, it popped up error that it could not be read. Here is the link to what I need copied: http://www.9news.com/video/player.aspx?aid=37818&bw=

It would not open in RealPlayer nor Media Player.

Works for me in Opera v9.22 when I click on your link. Thumbnail attached.

Thumbnail Screen capture does not show the 2 announcers in separate windows in the video, but the audio and video definitely worked for me. Bazza
