This may be a bit different but, I recently switched from the paying version of Music Match Plus to Itunes by apple. It's still the pc version of Itunes though. Well, ever since I have imported my 1,500 plus music collection (mp3 CDA mostly) I have an incredible echo in the sound. It is so bad that it sounds as if the music is being played in an underground sewer tunnel. Some of this stuff was downloaded some from my over 300 cd's. I am praying there is a way to remove the echo from the tracks.

I have the latest version of Itunes. I tried reimporting my collection - that didn't help. It didn't have it before using Itunes. The Itunes GUI is great, simple, and far more pleasing to my eyes.... but... my ears? Ouch! Is it possible that I have lost my entire digital music collection? I have been downloading since napster was a new thing on the net, and I can't bare to lose some music that is nearly if not impossible to find.

Can anyone help me. My pc is a Dell 8100 I have a turtle beach sound card and three speaker setup (if you include the subwoofer) I only mention because I read that the more information the better. I run XP Pro too.

I had to reformat my hard drive due to that maleware junk. After that I reloaded Music Match Plus Pro and reloaded my back-up cd's of my library. Music Match would not take them well it took about an hour to load a cd?? I couldn't figure out why. That's when I found Itunes. The backup cd's sound fine if you listen to them stand alone. However, after importing into Itunes they echo like they were recorded in Carlsbad Caverns.

I am, as always appreciative for the help I have received here in the past. If anyone has any ideas I'd be greatful.

    Thanks,
    dv

What import setting do you have?Itunes>edit>prefernces>advanced>importing. However it is best to copy mp3s directly and use add folder to library from Itunes menu.

Check your sound card preferences. I have a suspicion your drivers might be applying some effects on the DirectSound output, which iTunes uses. Might be in the "surround" settings or somthing similar.

To check this out, you can swap to waveOut instead of DirectSound. Do this by going to your Control panel, go to Quicktime, select Sound out, change to
waveOut:Whatever your sound card calls itself

Restart iTunes, and see if that makes any difference.
