i tunes replaces dvd driver

    I downloaded quick time and i tunes to run a language program. the i tunes removed the m.s. dvd driver and replaced it with its own. this means the cd/dvd rom was unavailable. i had to strip and reinstall the whole system. what a pain. any comments as to how to get around this porblem?
