Ok guys...i figured since you helped me with getting my pc back up when i had the front panel connector problems...that you could help me in figuring out wether my gateway pentium 2 350 mhz is overclockable....im pretty sure it probably isnt...but there is not harm in asking...i am not sure of the motherboard serial...but i can give you the serial of the computer itself.

Thanks for listening. Cuz only 350mhz...im living back in the stone age. and could use more speed...seeing as how..im broke and cant afford a new motherboard. this computer was given to me...because i was told that it didnt work...brought it home plugged it in...and turned it on...the first problem i saw was "Windows 98" well after reformatting to XP Pro...about a week after the reformat...everything was working fine...then i had no picture..but the computer was still on...because my music was still playing. First troubleshooting thought...the gay generic video card is out...went to walmart got a new one...popped it in...no problems since...ive also upgraded the ram from 98 mb to 244mb...(all i could afford) and 2 nice new hdd's

yea i kinda got off topic sorry :p

Windows XP on a 350MHz? Jeezzz.... and 244 MB?

Sorry, but the min spec for XP is 128MB ram, 700Mhz processor, I find it amusing that you even managed to get it to install on that... thing.

Anyways, the fact that its a Gateway says it all. Not overclockable. OEMs don't build in the facility to overclock their machines (wiley salespeople would overclock machines and try and sell them off for higher spec machines, but they'd be unstable as heck when the customer got them)

Not exactly true ( 700mhz would be better but)
Here are the requirements for XP:

I have run XP pro on a IBM Aptiva 333fsb with 256mb of ram, it actually ran very well, Not what you would call fast booter or really fast at anything, but it was an improvement or 98 ( It sucks if your OS is worth more than your PC, "LOL")

As for OCing, nOr4 might be possible to up the fsb a little, if the CPU fsb is lower that 100fsb he or she may be able to up the fsb to 100fsb, it all depends on the mobo it probably has jumper switches.
If it does? If can figure out setttings?
    It's all iffy.
In reallity, is unlikely it would really make any differance in performance.

I have XP runnin' on a Tabor3 440BX MB, PII450 w\512megs PC100, 80gig WD HDD, Nvidia TNT2 32meg. Not what I would call fast or anything, but it does run well. I've had to turn off all the eye candy, but who really needs all that anyway?
