    Hi all,
I have a load of 100mb downloaded house and dance music on my pc and I want a lot of it placed onto a CD.
I know it can be done but don't know how to.

I found a copy of hours and hours of music on somebody's lost CD-R disc and couldn't figure it out how they did it.

What software or technique do I need to use?

You can use a program like CDBurnerXP. The name is misleading - it works in Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8/8.1 & 10

Select Data disc and burn those files to CD.

FYI If all those files are MP3 or WMA, the disc will play in most new CD/DVD Players.

If you burn a CD as music, you can get between 12-16 songs burned to it on average. If you burn the disk as compressed data, that is mp3 or similar formats you can usually get about 150 files on a 75 MB disc.

Mine is mp3. How do I compree burn using Windows Media Player?
This is my favourite burner but I am prepared to try other burners such as CD BurnerXP as mentioned by Eldon.

In Windows Media Player you also select Data CD instead of Audio CD. Have a look at the burn options/settings.

Just made a cd-r to play in the wife's new car cd player santa brought. 46 songs 196mb 3hours 8 minutes worth. Could put plenty more. With Win 8.1 I just select all in the folder- and right click -send to- dvd burner. Shows you have files to be burned too disc. Drive tools @ top select finish burning. Pop up asks for live cd or mastered. Choose mastered. Have done 80 before with plenty of room left. Works in automobile and dj equipment. 5 hours should be feasible.

Use an app like freeware MediaInfo to examine the music files. If their bitrate is 32o Kbps or higher (like WAV or AC3 format), you can use the free but excellent XMedia Recode (English GUI) to recode your original files to a lower bitrate, but I would not go below 128 Kbps. You really start noticing loss of lower frequencies if the bitrate is below 128 Kbps. I would not overwrite any original files if they are high quality. The higher the bitrate, the better the audio quality but the fewer files you can convert to CDA and burn onto optical media: it's a trade-off. Listening to music in a car includes a lot of ambient noise, so 128 Kbps should be OK and let you burn more titles to a CD. If your car has a modern media player, you don't need to burn the titles to CD in *.CDA format; you can simply burn the MP3 files onto the disk. You'll be able to burn more than twice as many titles to a CD at 128 Kbps than at 320 Kbps. But then any modern disk player will support DVD media, which will let you burn a ton of songs that you can play for hours. My favorite burner is still Nero that does not require a myriad of silly steps to perform what should be a simple task, and it lets you choose a playback order as well as time between songs. Zero seconds is preferable between songs, since almost all have a 2-3 seconds silent leader and an equally long trailer. It does not make sense to me to have 6-7 seconds of silence between songs. Hope this helps.
