I want to kill my computer...literally

I'm trying to F disk this thing and restart from scratch, have everything I need but cant find the kill switch! Any information anyone can give me??

 

Not sure what you are talking about...Can you post a picture? Are you referring to the power button? Usually that's on the front of the computer, under the floppy. If this is not what you mean, post some more specific details.

Do you mean you want to reinstall windows ? are you looking for the key to boot the cd?

I don't understand why you would be looking for a kill switch. I don't think you need one.

Just run FDISK. If you really want to re-install everything, just delete all partitions, and create a new one (or two, or three...) Then format the partitions you created, re-install your operating system, and restore your data from backup.

Don't forget a boot disk. Once you've knocked down the partition(s) on your hard drive, you can't boot from it. You'll need something else to start from so you can format the hard drive and re-install your OS.

(BTW -- I've no idea what happens when you run FDISK from within WinXP. Ask someone else that question if you need the answer.)
