I want to open certain files with certain programmes?

I use VLC media player for MKV files which work well but there are about 30 MKV files on my computer that when I play with VLC Media Player, it uses all of my CPU and I don't know why.

But they work in Windows Media Player, and I don't want to have to click 'open with > Windows Media Player' whenever I have to play the files. I'd rather just double click and have it open in WMP.

But I don't want ALL MKV files to open in WMP, just the 30 which I want.

I know it's quite awkward but I was wondering whether it's possible?

Hi

Sadly no not possible on a Double Click or Open With of the file type as to have a specific file type open with a specific application, you have to change its association to open with different applications and that cannot be split between applications for specific file types.

Only workaround I have for you is to add the films you want to open in WMP, to the WMP library and then open WMP and click Videos menu and it will list your Films (MKV) files.
