I was Wrong - Yahoo did respond.

When I was having trouble removing Yahoo Toolbar and Helper (Software, 11-10-06, 15:59, Remove Yahoo Toolbar), I emailed Yahoo and asked for help. I fully expected that to be wasted effort. I never expected to hear back from Yahoo about how to dump them. Today, when I checked my Yahoo email box, as I do about this time every week, there was a message from Yahoo tech service, received less then 24 hours after posting my question, providing detailed instructions for how to adjust the registry to remove the Yahoo Toolbar and Helper - complete with all the proper warnings about how such can cripple my system. I was wrong, they did answer and in a very timely fashion. I'm not brave enough to try the removal process so I'm stuck with Yahoo in my system. However, with IE7's help I was able to disable the Yahoo Toolbar and Helper so at least the toolbar's not onscreen eating up space and the Helper icon isn't popping up all over the place making a pest of itself. That is good news that they got back to you and with what seem like great instructions.

I think all software companies have that disclamer in case the user deletes a wrong key as their is opportunity for error when delving into the registry, but if you either save/export the resgsitry key your about to delete your generally covered and can put it back if need be. BUT if its working will in IE7 with no yahoo toolbar then I guess your happy and no need to tempt fate
