I Would Like Opinions On Parts I Picked Out.

Ok here is what i plan on buying.Nothing top of the line but some were in the higher mid range for parts.

The Full Price is around 700$ dollars.Let me know if any parts are not going to work.I think the ram will work but would like some ones opinion.

Should i run this system with windows 10.Or keep Windows 7.

 

First query, why a new case? Could you use of modify a vintage case?

I all ready have plenty of fans.I might see if i can get this into my old computer case to save money.

I all ready have a EVGA 600Watt power supply that is 80 plus.This should leave me with around 200watts to play with.

Definitely W10. Windows 7 is already more than 9 years old and as seen by the Window Lifecycle Fact Sheet mainstream support ended way back in January 2015. NO DOUBT, hardware makers will stop developing driver support for that legacy operating system too. More and more hardware is already being optimized for W10.

Then of course, there is security. W10 is inherently more secure than W7. This is NOT meant to start any debate. W7 can easily be secured. For now.

FWIW, I recently did a new build with that same WD SSD. The client, a long time Samsung SSD user, is very happy with the WD.

While Rosewill PSUs have come a long way in recent years, if I had a decent EVGA 600W supply that was not being used, I sure would use that instead. I agree, with that hardware, you will easily have 200W headroom - which is plenty.

Then with the money saved by using the EVGA PSU, I'd go with 2 x 8GB of RAM for 16GB total. The performance gains going from 8GB to 16GB will NOT be mind boggling. But should be noticeable and even significant for many tasks. But more importantly, finding 100% compatible RAM 3 or 4 years down the road is often a challenge. Buying more RAM than you think you will ever need during the initial build will save you that aggravation should you decide later you do want to upgrade.

 

I can upgrade my ram later.I just want to have 8 gigs for now.

I will max it out probably in a month or two.Just trying to get it started.

FYI Windows 7 is the Only working OS i got currently.It will due for now.

 

I do have a CD copy some where but i need to find it.But still not sure its any good.Because it's when it first came out.
