But I dont want to get rid of the OS.

Basically , wanting to start a "fresh" and get rid of all thefiles that have built up over the years.

Is there a program that can do this?

Back the whole OS up to an external drive, there is usually something that is forgotten, and then you can restore the OS to a single folder and dig it out. After you reformat and reinstall the OS, and update Windows, back it up again. No need for System Restore if you have a recent backup. I usually do a reinstall of Windows about once a year on my personal system. Don't forget to load a reputable firewall before letting the system go on line. You can download Comodo here, it's free, and install it after turning Windows firewall off, and before venturing into the jungle. With Vista out I will be utilizing GNU/Linux more, and will probably convert all OS's to that when XP support wanes. Happy hunting...

What exactly does Linux have to do with the poster's thread?

Stick to the topic at hand, please.
