i dont know if this belongs in software,or what...okay i usually can get rid of viruses,spyware,malware...but i dont think thats what this is its about the speed of a early pentium 2 and has been that way ever since i reformatted it it s Pentium 4 3.0GHZ 512mb of ram internal video (64 mb)and windows XP pro SP2....im at a loss as to what it could be...ive switched vireus/spyware removers in an attempt to fix it but to no avail...please help

Is windows reading the correct speed of the cpu? Maybe the bios is not set right.

no, it is reading the right speed...and the bios all looks normal...i was wrong however at thinking it had 512mb it only has 256mb.....im about to run a pc mark test and compare it to another computer somewhat similiar to that my amd 64 3800+ and search for what others had in the range of a p4 2.8ghz 256mb got

You should notice a big difference if you add another 256mb.

yea but this isnt just ram ive seen a comp running xp w/ 128mb and its really slow but this beats it by a longshot its almost like its only running 64mb or something (i kno windows min. is 128 but it is extremely slow) i will upgrade 2 another 256 dimm or 512 dimm.
