    Hi.

Is this the same machine as the one in this thread? If so, the same applies: we need any system info you can give us.

Please download and install Everest, a free system information tool.

Run Everest and click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next - Choose System Summary Only > Next - Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate.
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) - click Save (n.b. Save to desktop, use Browse to locate desktop).

Then attach your log to your next post as per these instructions: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.

You might also post the report in your software thread, if needed. ;)

    Thanks.

Agreed with mastermosley: any way you could have entered the wrong language during Windows Setup?

And, what's the make and model #, service tag #, etc. of your machine?

The solution is really quite simple. Read your manual. :major
Somewhere in your manual it should state that pressing a certain key (usually a Function key) will turn some letters into numbers.

Check out a Google Search on Laptop keyboard writes numbers instead of some letters. for millions of links.

    From http://help.lockergnome.com/windows/Laptop-keyboard-writes-numbers-letters--ftopict583531.html

As some laptops use different combinations of (function) keys to achieve numbers instead of letters, you will have to read your manual to find the solution.

Most 15", or bigger, screen laptops nowadays have a separate numeric keyboard built in so as to overcome this need/problem. :cool

    Hope this helps,

    Bazza

Heeeeeey, I took a chance and tried different combinations of keys and wooohooooooo, I managed to sort it by pressing the right shift key, the Fn and the number lock key!! Massive thank you to all that suggested solutions and contributed :-D I can now type a 30 word paragraph in less than 10minutes now:cool
Now all I need to do is get a solution to my software issue :-D

That's the main reason I bought a 17" screen laptop last year, before 15.6" laptops with separate numeric keypad, became common.

I like to be able to type é, ½, A², etc., without having to fiddle about with Fn, plus other key combinations, to achieve the same result.
