IBM Laptop Win x9 IP always changing

My IP keeps changing. I'm using an IBM laptop, winx9 on a Belkin N router:-o

What do you mean the IP is changing and how is it a problem? It's normal for the IP to change between connections if you are using DHCP. If the wireless connection is dropping and reconnecting, it will often take the next available IP in the group.

What, exactly, is the problem you are having?

 

You're right on the money on the first 3 or 4 items:

1. Wireless - yes

2. Windows XP - Yes - Home edition

3. The changing in the IP influences the PC Anywhere program !

Still, not enough detail to answer this yet.

Are you the host? Someone is trying to connect to you and they need to attach to your external IP? And that number keeps changing every day or two or four?

If you have a home internet connection like DSL or cable modem, you have a dynamic IP unless you paid extra for a static IP. It being dynamic means that it will change to any IP in the ISP's pool. Most business connections are static, but not all are. You can pay for a static connection or try a program like TeamViewer, which is free to non-commercial users.
