I have three IBM NetVista model 6579-TAU dektop systems. All were working fines until suddenly One keeps on shutting itself down after completely booting. Aside this, it still work well. when I decided to repair install xp on it it does not go beyond the fiest screen and it freezez.

Though I have read the capacitor stuff, but istill want to know if there is any other way out.

The second which I use for internet also woks fine until I loaded explorer 7 on it. It began to give security related messages. I decided to uninstall the IE 7. After that, It opens all other websites well except the log in page of yahoo and very few website ike that of Lenovo Suppot and Download. At these pager it freezes without resposes to mouse and ketboard. Then I decided to repair install xp, It freezez at the window which display collecting information........ and that is the ferthest it goes.

o boot from CD: no way. Even that which I try is from the window environment.

    Please what do I do?

The first PC problem sounds to me like it's either a memory problem, or a hard drive problem. Visit your hard drive maker's web site, download and run their diagnostic tool. You may also want to run chkdsk /r by booting to the XP CD and using the recovery console. More info about chkdsk is available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265/en-us You should also download and run a memory diagnostic. There are many good free ones available here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads26.html Personally, I like the Windows Memory Diagnostic; you can create a bootable CD or floppy with the diagnostic tool on it. Select 'T' for the extended tests and run at least 3 or 4 passes. Download it from here http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Windows_Memory_Diagnostic_d3955.html You should probably perform these same tests on the other PC also just to be sure that the hardware is OK. Once you elminate hardware as a possible cause, we can move on to software repair.... So, perform the diagnostics and post your results. Good luck!
