IBM T43 NIC Driver

I have a laptop which was given to me and was working well (prior to re-imageing it). I ran boot and nuke (failed to back up drivers) installed Win XP pro (clean installation) and now can't get the NIC drivers for the machine. I have gone ot lenovo.com and downloaded what they say are the correct drivers for this machine (type 1871-D33) but they don't work. I have tried a couple of "shots in the dark" NIC Drivers and that has not worked either.
Please anyone have any suggestions as to how or where I might the needed drivers?

 

Is this the driver you downloaded: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58618 and it didn't work? I downloaded and extracted it, and from what I could see, there's no installer or "setup.exe" file. When you double click the download, it simply 'unzips' the driver and doesn't install it. If you read the message at the final screen (I attached a screen shot below), you'll plainly see that it even tells you that the installation hasn't been performed. If you've already downloaded and double clicked the file I linked to above, then start with step 1 in this link (otherwise, you need to download the .EXE file from that IBM link above and double click it and follow the on-screen prompts) You'll essentially skip most of step 6 and go to step 7; go to the location bar (the purple box) and type -
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\WINXP and click "Next" (do not click "Browse").
The driver should install. If you've already tried this, then there's a chance that the driver posted at the IBM/Lenovo site is the wrong driver... it happens. If this is the case, then you'll need to follow the steps in this thread and attach an Everest report to a future post. Good luck!

Holy Smokes....nothing like being able to READ the directions. Dog gone it I feel like such a clown. I owe you one!
I am sure you can imagine the frustration of thinking I know what I am doing and missing something as small as this.
