    Hi there!

I have an IBM Laptop running windows XP with a removal cd drive (LG-CD-ROM CRN-8245B), when I take it in and out the computer recognises that there is new hardware and detects the model of the drive, but when i put a CD in it i get the message "please insert a disk into drive D:" and its not recongising the drive.

I have tried looking everywhere for the drivers to see if I can update the drivers but cant find anything at all!!

The light comes on the CD drive so its getting power etc - not sure what else to try!??

    Please help!!

There's a chance the drive is simply no good. If you just boot the PC to Windows XP with the CD drive installed, what happens? Is the drive listed in My Computer or the Device Manager? Here's a link that may prove helpful. The IDE section applies to your situation; there's also a list of related articles with links further down the list.
