IBM Thinkpad R51

My initial problem is I have a left hinge that broke. I was just going to order a replacement, but the wire under the hinge is getting some slight damage to the outer casing. I'm wondering if I should order a new hinge and wireless cables or just go for a new/used LCD assembly? Next question is how or where do I find the correct replacement part numbers and installation instructions for doing any of the replacements. Almost forgot, I also only have 1 operating USB drive and whatever part that lets the battery charge doesn't work. I always have to have my laptop plugged in. A motherboard replacement is in order? Part # question again. Any suggestions to my problems would be greatly appreciated. Is this laptop worth fixing?

you could try looking for an the same model on ebay, and look for one that's got something else broken, but not the things that you need. or just look for a used one. this sounds like alot of things to repair, and considering the cost of a new laptop, you have to decide if it's worth it.

have you tried a new battery? the battery could be bad, and that could be why it's not charging.

 

I was looking on Ebay for exactly that, but that's where my questions came about part numbers. I don't understand enough about components etc. to know what I could swap out and use. Thank you for your reply.
