I bought my daughter a Thinkpad for college and it isn't working. The screen came on for a moment and then disappeared and nothing would boot. Now everytime I turn it on all I get is a black screen and I here the fan running and thats it. I know the battery needs replacing but I don't believe that would cause it not to work if it is plugged in. Any help please. She needs it for college.

I tried running it without the battery and it didn't work.I'm thinking the hardrive is bad. Where can I pick up a good hardrive thats about 60 g. I don't know if my laptop can go bigger then that. Its model number is 2373.
