Ican't see most link/pics online, little RED X's instead

I don't know what going on but in most emails and some websites, I only see lil red x's where pics and links are supposed to be. I know its a setting in internet explorer, but not sure how to change it and make it correct. Can someone help me out with this?

 

Place the mouse pointer over the X, and right click - show picture.
It is a popup/security thing. I am on wrong computer at the moment,(uses Firefox) to say exactly, but up the top, I believe on the right lower part of Explorer bar is a little symbol, that you click on to drop down, and choose allow popups for this page.
Virus and malware often use pictures to infect a computer - my advice is, if you don't know the sender, keep as it is.

This isn't only happening on emails, its happening on regular websites like Ebay. This is happening on both IE7 and Firefox. Someone please help, tired of seeing lil red x's everywhere

 

Try - in IE , OPTIONS, ADVANCED, In Multimedia, tick show pictures
