I need advice on what to use to hang icicles from the edge of my roof.

The problem is, I have all stucco on the house, and a tile roof. There is no wood to nail anything in, and the icicle clips I did find don't grip the tiles in the front of the house well enough. I have no drain gutter, or any ledge to really clip to, save the tiles themselves. The tiles are over 1 inch thick.

    Suggestions?

Wire clips? You know the ones that are used to keep cables along a wall? Look like a "U" with a nail, they work really well.

You know those table clips you can get that hold a tablecloth down on an outdoor table on a windy day? Could they be used on the end of the tiles and the lights cable held on by them. They are flexible to a degree so could fit the 1 inch width of your tile. Failing that, how about some cheap baby G clamps?

Doesn't ring a bell. I would be forever in your debt if you can find a picture for me.

Is that a nail or a screw? I'm trying not to poke holes in my new house ;)

Now if that is like a mini c-clamp, that would be perfect.

    Yeah...C-clamp....G-clamp...it's all the same ;)

Try Knechts, or whatever auto/tool store you got down there

Afraid it's a nail, but they leave little or no mark. You could try a strong glue and then when you need to get it off, heat it??

No need, I live in Arizona. More heat than I'll ever need :p

I cant afford that many, looking at the prices. I need like 30 clamps for the house.

I'd still say cable clips, they're great and leave like no marking.

60 bucks for c-clamps....my head hurts lol.

The tablecloth clamps are too small.

I need to look closer at how my neighbor did it, I guess.

I may just poke holes, although I was avoiding it for house value reasons.

We bought this place at 167k, and not even 6 months later, its worth 215k.

We figure by next year, it will be 250, or higher.

I tried those today. The large ones open to 1" 5/16, which is a little too small. But while I can clip it on to some edges, when they slip off, they chip the tiles.

I was hoping those were gonna work. I found large ones to be the biggest ones. Is there a larger size?

I think that's as big as they come.

Thats basically like velcro with adhesive on the back, right? That might just work...provided it will stay stuck to roof tile for the next month :D

Yes it's adhesive velcro. The text says it holds access doors and mounting panels, so i would have thought it would cope with outdoor lights.

Except the pricing is by the yard ;)

I'm broke from all the lights I bought :(

You guys are giving me great ideas though, keep em coming :)

Trying to find a local dealer for that 3m stuff.

You can always use standard wall filler once you're finished and then paint over. House buyers don't see everything...

    That's the biz...nice price.

Don't know how much you paid for your icicle lights but I just got a great deal at Michael's. One of the employees told me they were 2 for $9. When I got to the checkout they came up $7.99 each, reduced from $9.99, so I questioned it. They agreed to honour what the first employee had incorrectly told me, so I got more than a 50% discount in effect :D Very happy customer :p

G.T. down where you are at you need that special NASCAR 200 MPH Duct tape.

It cost a little extra but its worth it. :D

Many hours later, broken bulbs, strands, and flashers, I now have 91ft of blue icicles on my house :D :D

Along with the mess of extension cords powering the animated moose, doe, and polar bear.

I was looking at that locking tape stuff. I may still find a use for it. Is it really that expensive?

Cool! Now you have it sussed, you want to come fit mine too? ;)
