Icon font colour

I'm using Windows XP Home edition.

I recently changed my desktop to a picture which is white. Consequently, it is very difficult to read the text under an icon (see first attatched picture). I tried to find the setting for font colour, but all that I could manage to do was bold the font. To do that, I went to "Display Properties", clicked the "Appearance" tab and then clicked the "Advanced" button. From there I selected "Icon" from the Item drop down menu. It then allows me to change the font used, the size, and bold or italicise it. The only option which I cannot use is the colour option.

Bolding the text helped to make it readable (see second attatched picture), though it was still far from perfect. It also had the undesireable side effect of bolding text all over Windows, from Internet Explorer to Outlook Express.

Does anyone have any solution to this problem?

Thanks robo, that did it for me. I lost the eye-candy of shadowed fonts, but I can read the icons clearly now.

You could also just make the desktop color dark, and that would put the icon text in a block of that color..
