Can anyone tell me how to change the placement of icons in windows xp professional? I am looking to put them on the top of screen, instead of the left side of screen. I don't want to use a utility program for this, there must be some way in the registry or something. And I usually use the autoarrange.

    Thanks Mike

Right-click on the desktop, and set your "Arrange Icons By" like the picture below. Auto Arrange always sets them down the left margin, so don't use that. Align to grid is handy as it keeps them squared up and porportioned. Put your icons where you want them and they'll snap into line.

(This thread should properly be in the Software forum, but no worries. Welcome to MG.)

Yes but I want to be able to auto arrange at the top?/

Is this possible? Because sometimes if you have to change screen sizes for let's say gaming, that would mess up your arrangement. Any more help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
