I have my icons all set up and then for some reason the icon for explorer (the big e symbol in blue) is covering some of my icons. Why is this happening?

Right click an empty space on the desktop ....uncheck align to grid ...you should be able to click and hold that icon and move it to where you want it. Under properties / customize ...you can choose the size of the icons.

I did what you said, but, I didn't tell you that the symbol is covering my icons within folders as well. Any reason that happens that you know of?

Restate that .....are you saying that you open a folder and the icon is obscuring the contents of the folder ....(same position on the screen?)?

No, the explorer icon is covering the icons of the things inside the folder. It has covered the original icon which can still be seen behind it. It's really odd.

The attachment has a screen shot of what the icons look like. See how the Explorer "e" is lying on top of the original icon. Exasperating!

    Install "Tweak UI" here, http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=226

This tool is useful to manage the icons on the desktop, and also it repairs
    the mis-displayed icons.
