Icons in IE 7 Address Bar Incorrect/Wrong

I have noticed that since performing the READ & RUN THIS FIRST post in the anti-malware forum, the webpage icons in Internet Explorer 7 address are incorrect. For example, the icon next to the address for this page is a stylized white K on a black field. Most websites disply the wrong icon, though some still have their correct icon.

Icons in Firefox are correct.

I tried reinstalling IE 7, which didn't change things, and rebooting in safe mode and then rebooting in normal mode, which also didn't work, and going back to an ealier system restore point, which didn't work.

I realize I may have to wait on this until my other problem is resolved in the malware forum, but I wondered if there was some quick/simple method to corect this.

 

There, there, no need to get angry. I'm happy to take your advice, and I'll certianly mention what I did when the other thread is replied to. Unfortunately the R&R doesn't tell you to disable system restore before beginning (I had mine disabled based on the advice of others' until ComboFix started it again) and doesn't specifically tell you not to do anything after completing the R&R process (which I followed to the letter). You never know what weird little changes indicate further trouble with malware. Knowing what I know now, it was dumb to do what I did, but that's how life is sometimes: You learn from mistakes. I'll learn from this one too.
