i just installed a new mobo and it only has one IDE connector, it also has 4 SATA connectors.

i have several questions about this.
    1. can the computer boot from a sata drive?
    2. how many devices can be connected to a single sata connector?
    3. what is the throughput of a sata connection? is it comparable to IDE?
    4. this last might answer all the rest, can a sata connection be treated like an IDE connection?

    1. Yes
    2. 1
    3. IDE = 133Mb/sec. SATA = 150Mb/sec. SATA-II = 300Mb/sec
    4. No - totally different

most new mobos only have the 1 ide connector for cd/dvd roms, or if you have an ide hard drive....the sata is much faster, and you don't need to worry about master/slave/cable select settings anymore.
