Idiot Seeks Advice

I have an acer laptop 5100 with windows xp. The built in orbicam stopped working, saying that the driver device wasn't installed. In my attempt to resolve this I downloaded the driver file I found. This was unsuccessful. So I used the built in partition to do a complete factory restore and it quit at 62% with a message saying NFCS not found (or something like that) I managed to find a post telling me how to fix this, reset the boot order and burned a disk trying to reinstall that - took a while, but the restore finally got the whole way through.
However, now my computer is running hot 51celcius, slow and strange. The camera still does not work. Under USB\VID.0402&PID... it says the driver for this device is not installed.
I might have permanently deleted a driver somehow? Is this possible? Shouldn't the restore program be completely intact with my drivers? When I rechanged the boot order, is there something that I should now do to make sure it is now booting properly? I haven't a clue.

As I said, I am pretty much an idiot with computers. I live in a middle eastern country for the time being and there isn't a reliable repair place so I try to do it myself.
If anyone has an idea of what I should do to get my camera running (important to see the faces back home) and maybe getting my computer to not run so hot... I would appreciate it. If you need the details of my computer please give me instructions on how to attach them.

I cant find a xp driver for that cam, they have one for vista, try this
