IE 6.0 Browser launches unwanted site

Ok - I have tried it all (Spy-Bot, Ad-Aware, HijackThis, etc.) - nothinig is detected.

IE 6.0 will continually launch the following url in my browser: http://www.angelfire.com/ego2/kthx1/error.html and prompts to install program, etc.

This occurs whether IE is open or not. Eventually IE wil stop resolving web pages altogether until I reboot.

I would like to avoid a rebuild if possible. I suspect there is an undetetced control running that 'installed itself' when the admin had this server on the INET unpatched during set up.
