IE 6.0 Issue

For the past month, my Internet Explorer has been crashing / locking up approx 50% of the time whenever I visit the msn.com website. Sometimes it just closes with the usual "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close", and at other times just hangs if I try to go to another page while at msn.com (closing and reopening IE solves the issue). Once or twice it has crashed on another webpage, but 99% of the time it happens on msn.
On the event viewer I have noticed one error listed which appears around the same time of some but not all occurences:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module mshtml.dll, version 6.0.2900.2180, fault address 0x00052d6b

It isn't a firewall issue as I have been using Zone Alarm with no problems for a long time. I have cleared all cookies & temp internet files. I have also scanned my pc with Spyware Doctor (full version), Spybot & NAV which have found nothing, and run a search for all files created within the past month - nothing looks suspicious (there are no new applications running in the background or toolbars installed either).

Does this just sound like IE has become corrupt? The current install of xp (sp2) is 1 year old.

 

one fix would always to be to upgrade to the new ie explorer.
the other would be to download hijackthis and see if there are any BHO's on your ie.
in a lot of cases zone alarm will not detect them

 

I have run Hijackthis and attached a log - nothing on it caught my eye. Any other suggestions (besides IE update & xp reinstall)?

 

I know you said you have XP now but maybe this will help somehow.

No that problem only applies to IE 5.5
