I have built a new computer for my wife, Asus P5N-E SLI MB, C2D 6300, Win XP SP2, just finished the build, EVERYTHING WAS working fine, now IE-6 sp2 is giving me problems - FireFox is working perfect - the problem is some pages load right up and others start to load, stop and the Desktop appears, example - if I try to load MG's it will start, get about half a page loaded and go to the Desktop, no errors

I have already "validated" windows, I installed IE-7 hopping that would solve the problem, it didn't, removed IE-7, I had run some utilities, CC and Fix-it, I use these ALL the time NEVER had any problems, I backed out of all the changes from these utilities, also had just installed Windows update KB927978, so I uninstalled that -

    Ran SFC, no problems found

I am at a loss as to what to try next, is there any way to either repair or reinstall IE-6 ???

    Could sure use some help

    Thanks

Problems are like buses, there are none for a long while and then several all come along at once.
We seem to be starting a rash of IE6 problems sorry no solutions other than complete reinstall yet.

Just a quick update on this problem, seems that the Firewall "Active Armor" installed itself when I installed the Nvidia Chipset drivers, under the term "Access Mgr.", I have been using "Sygate" for years with NO problems and have read that "Active Armor" is nothing but trouble, I was able to reinstall the Chipset Driver without "Active Armor" but it was toooo late the damage was done, something was corrupted, I reinstalled and things seem to be fine so far -

Try IEFix, a free download here at Major Geeks. You'll need the XP install CD. IEFix replaces all the IE files on your hard drive with clean copies from the CD. It's worked for me before, but only w/ IE6. It can't hurt to try!

Oh yeah- you can also try Dial-A-Fix (also available free from MG); check the SSL box and all the boxes in the Registration Center and click Go! It almost seems too easy, but DAF can fix all sorts of problems just by re-registering the appropriate .dll files.
