IE 6 setup problem

Hello all, I have a system running Windows ME and I'm trying to install Explorer 6, this is to replace Explorer 5.5. During the setup it tells me that it cannot install some of the programs, then it also tells me that there is another setup process for IE6 and the system needs to reboot. When I do a reboot. nothing happens. How do I delete this other setup for IE6 so I can do a full install of IE6?

Follow these steps to uninstall IE (I can't remember exactly how its done on ME - these steps may vary slightly):

1. Open control panel it is available on the start menu
2. Double click 'Add/Remove Programs'
3. Click 'Windows Components' (if it is not listed on the first window)
4. Uncheck the box next to Internet Explorer, and press next (or if on the first window, press the remove button)

From there, you can run the installer from above, and setup should be a breeze!

If the two suggestions above do not work:
Since you are using Windows Millenium Edition; you could try removing Internet Explorer using IEradicator from LitePC.com which 'claims' to be able to remove all versions of Internet Explorer [from IE versions 3 to 6] from an existing installation of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, and Windows 2000sr1.

Important Notes:
As a precaution make sure to always Create a System Restore Point before you download and then install anything onto your computer; should something unforeseen go wrong during the installation process. This will allow you to return your computer settings to the state your PC was in - prior to installing. Be sure to take a few moments to read the accompanying text files first prior to actually using IEradicator.

Note to others who may be reading this:
IEradicator is not for use with Windows 2000sr2 or Windows XP. These two systems are NOT supported. Using IEradicator with either of these operating systems will cause major headaches!
