Was reading elsewhere that before the end of the month, Microsoft is going to have IE7 be an auto update to those using earlier versions. They have even created a blocker toolkit you can download and install to prevent the Windows Update from installing it over your current version.

Any ideas why you wouldn't want this upgrade? Have all the bugs been worked out in the Betas? I'm usually all for updates but if there is some major issue to be aware of, i'd love the heads-up.

    Thanks,
    stevo

Like you mentioned the bugs should be worked out. However, I would install a tool to prevent it from being installed at least for a month or so. Because there will probably quite a few security issues and it might not work with all websites even though its a full version.

    Hey SteveO4,
I have had IE 7 for about 3 months know and i think it's great. Security is better, tabbed browsing is A+, Overall much better in my opinion. I wouldn't worry to much about it,it's a step forward.

The security updates will come if (When:rolleyes: ) they find holes.

It works with every site I have been to except Bell Canada. They don't recognize it yet but will have to soon enough. No real concern for you south of the border.

Thanks all. Basically, what i expected. My new laptop arrives on Monday and will try the toolkit blocker and stay with 6 for the time being. I do sort of like the tab browsing with Firefox, but i still run into issues on certain websites with FF.

    Hi,
I have been running it for some time now and it does seem faster now that you say that. Also the tabbed browsing is great and the security is way better (fishing filter and checks security certificates) I haven't had any problems so far, very pleased.

umm, everyone here is mentioning security.... its still integrated into windows.... Firefox 2 has a phishing filter, spell checker, tabbed browsing and other amazing features included. I'm running the just released Release Candidate 3 and am very pleased with what I see.

You can get Release Candidate 3 here

Everything here is my opinion, I pretty much don't like internet explorer at all.

You could try avant browser which does sit on top of IE but it does give your internet browsing a performance boost:cool:

you could, but I don't like how internet explorer renders an entire table before displaying it, epically when a lot of websites have many tables... that increases loading time. :p
