    Hi all,

I have just updated my xpp sp2 machine to ie7 and noticed that the fonts on any web page are slightly dithered/blurred - not mapped directly to the pixels.

The same website in ff is perfect - it seems to be ie7 related. I had a similar issue on my acer pda and there was a setting called clear type - which when you click it let the font map directly to the pixels.

If anyone has seen this and has a work around, I would appreciate the input.

Looking at a 'slightly blurry screen' is not great.

    :)

Here is some info I gleaned from the Web -

It appears the ClearType feature is geared more toward LCD screens, and can look blurry on CRT screens. The link below will install an Active X control which will help you "tune" your clear type settings. You can also download a tool that can be used off-line. I have not personally used the activeX or the offline tool.

To have I.E. use the same ClearType settings as Windows, select "Tools" - then "Internet Options." Go to the "Advanced" tab and scroll to "Multimedia" Uncheck the "Always use Clear Type for HTML " check box. Accept the changes, and restart Internet Explorer.

    I hope this helps.

    Natakel,

Many thanks for your input - I'll give it a go.

To be honest, I hadn't spotted that setting - I kind of answered my own question but couldn't find the answer!!

BTW I don't suppose you know how to stop it always going to the runonce.asp page instead of my home page do you?

I can't see any reason it keeps gonig to microsoft, nor can i see how to make it just go to my home page.

No problem - I hope it helps :)

I think (if I know what you mean) that you can set the home page on the "General" tab of the internet options menu. First, navigate to your desired home page. Then click "Tools" - "Internet Options" - then "General" (usually it is the default tab showing), and then select the "Use Current" option. That should make your homepage stick.

I'm not in front of my PC with IE7 right now, but I'm pretty sure that will do it - barring some net nasty on your PC that hijacks your home page.
