IE 8 and Ask Tool Bar

Is the Ask tool bar part of IE8?

It opens when I go into IE8.

To answer your question, NO. Ask toolbar is not a part of IE8.
Another program has sneakily loaded it onto your PC.
In my experience it is a PITA to get rid of.

Other MG'ers may have methods to get rid of it.

No, and you can eliminate this and other tool bars by going to tools, then manage add-ons. I disable everything but Java, even that isn't necessary.

I have cleaned computers with 5 or more tool bars, shrinks the screen you actually want to see.

I've found several programs like to add the Ask bar and I always refuse. Whenever I come across it, I always delete. I'll see what I can do with the IE8 set up.
