I upgraded from IE7 to IE8 through the Microsoft website. It was the worst choice I ever made.

When the computer restarted, my desktop photo was posturized like an Andy Warhol painting. The font was supersized and everything from a-z was disrupted.

I had to remove IE8 and do a complete restore to a point where my computer was normal. I'll NEVER touch IE8 again.

I have XP home edition. Dell Desktop. It's for family entertainment only. Any suggestions on good browsers besides Firefox. I had issues with them too. Some sites wouldn't work well.

    Hi Capt Jack

Likelhood is a 3rd party add-on eg. Toolbar, Quicktime, popup blocker, security app like Spybot that adds or blocks IE components etc "may" have caused this, but I see why you wouldnt want to go back to installing IE8 (personally I do it via the manual download over WinUpdate).

Alternative as you dont also like Firefox is Opera 10 while this is a beta its still very good. Googles Chrome is another to try out, again beta but is OK now.

I saw a post here about Apple Safari being a good choice now as well.
